As a third-generation, family owned business, The Friendly Neighbor is a home service, with a commitment to integrity and excellence. They provide many services such as plumbing, landscaping, trash removal, fencing, siding and more.
Koi Graphics partnered with The Friendly Neighbor to help establish a visual brand identity. After creating user profiles that reflected their existing customer base, we created their primary logo and variations based on the selected user profile and goal of the company.
After meeting with The Friendly Neighbor, our team narrowed down the client’s focus to two keywords; clarity and simplicity. They pride themselves in their efficient and clear-cut solutions, so to help emphasize this, our team went with a minimalist design approach.
While the complete branding has a few accents and works within a limited color palette, the primary logo needed to remain clear, concise, and in one color. Focusing on the spacing and weight of the letters, Koi Graphics was proud to create the primary logotype. Once the primary logo was complete, we were able to move on to all secondary logos and marks.
Wanting logo variation between each department, we chose tools that would fit in an elongated and vertical design system. By lining up the letter ‘I’ in each word, it made for a seamless connection for the tools to live.
The typeface selected for the branding needed to be a san-serif with clean lines and curves. It also needed to posses a sense of energy and motion to visually emphasize The Friendly Neighbor’s efficient and clear-cut approach to their services. After many revisions and deliberation, Acumin Variable Concept was the perfect choice. While pairing well with the logotype, Acumin’s multiple weight variations acts as both a display type and text type for The Friendly Neighbor’s branding. This allowed for an flawless hand off to the client once the branding was complete.
